Sports & AthleticsBeing a BASIS Independent Manhattan Wildcat means actively participating in a vibrant learning community, enjoying endless opportunities to connect studies with the real world, discover new talents and skills, and build lasting bonds of friendship and camaraderie.
We have after-school clubs, and there are a lot of them. Literally, I had 10 choices in the same day and had to spend a week deciding which one to do. I chose soccer!
I take Rock Guitar on Mondays, and on Fridays I have chess club!

The BASIS Independent Manhattan learning community of students, teachers, and administrators worked together to create a set of school-wide expectations to be carried from classroom to classroom, grade to grade, and to establish a strong sense of community.
Since opening in 2017, we begun build a comprehensive sports & athletics program, which is still growing. Our approach to athletics seeks to promote healthy competition and empowers students with the discipline, grit, and persistence to become leaders outside the classroom.
From cooking to theatre, coding to gardening, our clubs & activities help students grow into well-rounded learners and discover their passions. Our unique approach to clubs & activities at BASIS Independent Manhattan empowers students to help develop a program where they see a need beyond what is offered.
Our educational philosophy is centered around student autonomy and self-advocacy. To support these values, we’ve designed specific services to help empower students when they come to school each day. We also offer many critical auxiliary services such as a lunch program, before-and after-school care, and transportation.
Our content-rich curriculum is complemented by many opportunities for students to see ideas in action—both in and out of the classroom. We delight in giving students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of course material and how it relates to the world around them, as well as explore problems from new angles.
Learning and fun don’t stop when the regular school year ends! BASIS Independent Summer offers a variety of academic programs and is conveniently located on our school campus and taught by our expert educators and staff.
