Applying to BASIS Independent Manhattan

Thank you for your interest in learning more about the process for admission to BASIS Independent Manhattan. Our process is selective and multi-step, ensuring we spend time getting to know our applicants, their families, and vice-versa.

We are currently accepting applications for the 2018–19 school year for Pre-K2 (4-year olds) through grade 7 on a rolling basis (Rolling Admissions). Apply now for fall 2018.

2018–19 Application

The application for the 2018–19 school year is now available. Register for our interest list to receive updates from our admissions team or apply now.

Admissions steps and requirements vary by grade. Please read below for details and be sure to note our different admissions cycles and corresponding deadlines.

The Rolling Admissions Cycle

Application Completion Deadline Applications for all grades are open until the grade has filled. Once a grade has closed, submitted applications that receive a letter of acceptance will automatically go on our waitlist. 
Notification Date We aim to notify you within 5 business days of receiving your completed application. Please note that an application is deemed complete when the supplementary materials are received and required meetings are attended.
Commitment Date Admitted applicants to the Rolling Admissions Cycle will be required to commit to BASIS Independent Manhattan within 5 business days of being offered a seat. 

Admissions Steps and Requirements

    Attend an Informational Event (Optional but highly recommended)

    We highly recommend you attend an informational event to learn about our program before applying. We host informational events throughout Manhattan as well as on our BASIS Independent Brooklyn campus, located in Red Hook. After attending an event, we encourage you to come for a tour. Your experience at a tour will be much richer after having attended an informational event.

     Complete and submit an application along with a $75 application fee.

     Provide teacher evaluation forms to your child's current teacher(s).

    We require that materials are sent directly from your child's current school to our Admissions office.

    Required for grades 17.

    Submit transcript request to your child's current school.

    We require that materials are sent directly from your child's current school to our admissions office.

    Required for grades 17.

    Register online for your child's group play date (K-1) or entrance exam (grades 2–7).

    Required for PreK–grade 7.

    Register online for your family meeting.

    All applicants and at least one parent and/or legal guardian must attend a 30-minute meeting where we will interview your child and answer any questions you may have.
