Ms. Cummings graduated cum laude from Tulane University with a Bachelor’s degree in English, and minors in Spanish and Political Science. In 2016, she graduated summa cum laude from Touro College with a Master’s of Science degree in Childhood Education and Special Education.
While completing her Master’s degree, Ms. Cummings taught for two years at a charter school in New York City. During her first year, she says she was exposed to a variety of grade levels and teaching styles; she then spent her second year co-teaching in an inclusive 2nd grade classroom. “I really enjoyed the experience of working with another educator, and I am excited to bring my ideas and practices to BASIS Independent Manhattan, and to learn from those around me,” she says.
Ms. Cummings says she believes that every child has the capability and the right to set lofty academic goals and achieve them – which makes her a precise fit for teaching the BASIS Curriculum! “How children learn is just as important as what they learn,” she says, “and I believe our program provides the perfect environment for students to grow as learners and individuals.”
